La primera vez que Paul McCartney tocó Yesterday!!

 "Yesterday" es una de las canciones más importantes de The Beatles, pero también de la música popular. La canción vio la luz en 1965 en el álbum Help! y desde ese momento se convirtió en un himno incuestionable, interpretado a lo largo de los años por diversos artistas, siendo el sello infaltable en cualquier recital en vivo de Paul McCartney, su compositor.

Siempre hay una primera vez para todo y también la hubo para tocar en concierto "Yesterday". El legendario momento fue en el programa de televisión Blackpool Night Out -en 1965-, donde The Beatles interpretaron canciones como "I Feel Fine", "I'm Down", "Act Naturally" y "Ticket to Ride".

En un momento dado del show, George Harrison anuncia que a continuación seguirá una performance que nunca habían hecho. Al tiempo que las luces bajaron, Paul pasó al centro del escenario e interpretó la melodía acompañado de un cuarteto de cuerdas como en la versión original.

The Beatles: La canción escrita por Paul McCartney que lastimó a John Lennon

Lennon confesó después su molestia con esta canción del Álbum Blanco.

The Beatles llegó a ser la banda más popular de todos los tiempos pese a las constantes disputas internas entre sus integrantes; principalmente, la rivalidad entre John Lennon y Paul McCartney.

A menudo, la agrupación se dividió en dos bandos durante la grabación de sus últimas canciones, y una de esas divisiones "lastimó" muchísimo a Lennon. De acuerdo con la revista Far Out, hubo una canción particular que molestó al autor de "Imagine" durante la creación de The White Album. Pero en vez de ofenderse por la estructura del track en cuestión, lo que enojó a John fue la manera en que Paul lo grabó.Nos referimos a "Why Don't We Do It On the Road?", tema que curiosamente le encantó a Lennon y que él definió como "uno de los mejores" de la formación oriunda de Liverpool. La canción estaba inspirada en una reunión de McCartney con un par de monos durante la estancia de los Fab Four en Rishikesh, Indi, mientras estudiaban con Maharishi Mahesh Yogi.

Sobre esa experiencia, Paul comentó en su momento: "Un [mono] masculino se subió a la espalda de una hembra y 'le dio uno', como se dice en la lengua vernácula. En dos o tres segundos, se bajó nuevamente y miró a su alrededor como diciendo '¡No fui yo!', Y ella miró a su alrededor como si hubiera habido una leve molestia... Y pensé... así de simple es el acto de procreación... Los humanos tenemos problemas horrendos con eso, pero los animales no los tienen".

Al respecto del proceso de gestación de esa canción, John reveló durante una entrevista con David Sheff en 1980:

"Así es Paul. Incluso la grabó por su cuenta, en otra habitación. Así hacía las cosas por esos días. Entrábamos y él ya había hecho toda la grabación. Él con las baterías, él tocando el piano, él cantando".

Finalmente, enfatizó que ese comportamiento de Macca pudo haber lastimado igualmente a los otros integrantes del proyecto: "Aún así, no puedo hablar por George, pero siempre me dolía cuando Paul hacía todo sin involucrarnos. Pero así era por entonces".
